Frequently Asked Questions
What is ICNS?
ICNS is an icon format for macOS. Desktop applications on macOS use ICNS files for their icons.
Why did you build this?
I built this tool after struggling to find a website that would convert images to ICNS files online (many claim to do so, but don't produce an actual ICNS file). This was while I was building a desktop app for macOS and needed an icon for my app. I did not find one in the end, and had to write a script to convert my image to an ICNS file.
Can't you do this with Adobe?
I think so. But most solo developers like me don't have access to Adobe. If you just need a simple online ICNS converter, this is a quick and easy solution.
Can you convert to ICO as well?
ICO converter websites actually work, so I don't know if I plan to include this anytime soon.
